A while back my friends Marie and Chelsea tried to get me into {or rather talked about it a lot around me} the way they use Essential Oils, I'm not going to lie to you I couldn't bring myself to spend the money {a little pricey} to "try" something. Coincidentally my sister-in-law-to-be gifted me the Young Living Essential Oil Starter Kit for my Birthday last year.
I started using the oils in the diffuser and cleaning with them ... then Marie made me a Lemon Peppermint Sugar Scrub for Christmas and I fell in love! I used it every time I took a shower and I was so sad when it finally ran out. So it has been on my list to make another batch! While looking through Pinterest I came across a recipe for Lavender Vanilla Sugar Scrub and really wanted to try it.
Gather Ingredients
- 1 Cup - White Sugar
- 1/4 Cup - Liquid Coconut Oil {heated}
- 5 Drops - Lavender Essential Oil
- 1 Tsp. - Pure Vanilla Extract
Mix accordingly
Start with the 1 Cup of Sugar |
Add the 1/4 Cup of Melted Coconut Oil {I heated mine in the microwave for 30 seconds} |
Add 5 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil |
Add 1 Tsp. of Pure Vanilla Extract. Mix all of the ingredients together until you get a moist mixture evenly distributed. |
A few things to note:
- Be sure to use a Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil {Young Living / DoTerra}. There are oils that you can get for cheaper at your local health food store however, I don't recommend using those for anything that you are going to put on your skin or ingest into your body.
- Be sure you are using Pure Vanilla Extract and not Imitation Vanilla Flavoring.
- If you are going to keep this in your shower use a plastic container that seals tightly {Tupperware}
- I personally do not use this on my face {mainly because I use the Clarisonic}
